Heather and Andrew = Married!

Heather and Andrew

We set off early on Saturday morning to drive down to Somerset for the wedding of Heather and Andrew. Having done their pre-wedding shoot just days before I knew this was going to be a lovely day but I hadn’t quite realised just how special it was going to be. After getting stuck in some pretty nerve-wracking traffic on the M5 we arrived in Goathurst. As we turned the corner and drove up to Halswell House I simply couldn’t believe my luck. This place is like something out of a fairytale. This was my dream wedding shoot in so many ways. Heather and Andrew are beautiful, friendly, relaxed and so in-love, the venue was stunning both inside and out, the views were amazing, the weather was perfect, the guests were wonderful, the bestman and ushers were helpful and I had my partner Stef as my assistant. I love my job so much!

When we arrived at Halswell House I was struck by the beautiful wheat fields surrounding it and wondered how I could persuade Heather and Andrew that getting in the field would be a really good idea! When I saw Heather’s beautiful and very expensive shoes I thought that my idea was a no go. But this couple are special and as the sun was going down they made my day (my year!) by following me over to the wheat fields to create some of the best wedding photos I have ever taken. There are just a couple here….there will be lots more when Heather and Andrew are back from honeymoon at the end of August.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS guys….you see you’ve made the blog as promised!

Lesley and Scott

Last Friday I literally walked across the road from where I live to photograph the beautiful wedding of Lesley and Scott at the wonderful and historic Highbury Hall. I love working at Highbury, not just because I don’t have to drive there, but because the staff are incredibly professional and helpful, the building is full of Birmingham’s history and no matter how many times I go there I see new things every time.

Lesley and Scott

Lesley and Scott’s wedding was a special one. It was so full of love, happiness and a lot of fun…it made me cry! I can’t wait to show them their images next week. Congratulations Lesley and Scott and every best wish for the future!

Jumping through confetti

On 19th July I had the great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Julie and Phil in Sutton Coldfield. Fellow photographer Matt Murtagh joined me for the day’s shoot, which was great. More images will come later when the happy couple are back from their honeymoon but I just had to post this one of them jumping through the confetti and the image below of their beautiful wedding cupcakes. Huge congratulations guys!

Anita and Richard Married!

Friday, July 11th, 2008

At the end of June I had the incredible pleasure of photographing the wedding of the beautiful Richard and Anita in Coombe Abbey. I was joined by Alan Bremner for the day, who helped assist me from 9am-11pm! It was a long one but so worth it and I just can’t wait to show Anita and Richard their images. For now here is sneaky peak of three of my favourites. Big Congratulations guys!

I took along a set of cards for all the guests. On the front were images from Anita and Richard’s pre-wedding shoot and on the back details of where they can see the images and order prints. Everyone loved them!

12 Faces

12 Faces
12 Faces is an exciting new portrait project that I am involved in. There are 12 photographers from the UK and US. Each month for the next year one of us gets to choose the assignment for the month, which can be a word, poem, song, image etc. We then have to produce a portrait in response, so that at the end of the year we each have 12 new portraits. The aim is that we will enter at least one of our images into the National Portrait Prize. I’m excited!

A day in the life of me!

Well, I can’t believe that a month has gone by and I haven’t got a post up on here. I have been extremely busy writing my thesis and working with some lovely clients.

So, a month later and I’m in Professional Photographer magazine again. This time a four page spread “A day in the life of Emily Quinton”, which covers the beautiful wedding I photographed for Amy and Dan, and the 75th birthday party for Edward de Bono.

Cute little faces

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I really do love working with little people. It is true children aren’t always easy to work with and they are always unpredictable. And they often surprise you - like this beautiful little girl who walked into my studio in her pretty dress and sat down for her photos. Her mum couldn’t believe it and nor could I. She’s only 15 months old! Needless to say she didn’t stay sitting down for long but she was an absolute joy to photograph and I love the results.

Last week I also had the pleasure of photographing this little guy who seemed to enjoy having his photographs taken. These were taken at his home, which I always think makes children feel more relaxed.
